What is officially confirmed, what past release dates really show, and a checklist to get your record payment-ready

PM-KISAN was the top rising search on a Google Trends tracker for India earlier this month, and interest has stayed high. The reason is simple: the 23rd instalment reached farmers on June 20, 2026, and as of October 23, 2026 the government has not announced a date for the 24th.
That gap has produced a flood of guesses, including an "October 20" date that spread on social media without any official notification. This guide separates what is confirmed from what is speculation, shows what past release dates really tell us, and lists what to fix in your records so a payment does not bounce.
| Item | Status | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 23rd instalment released | Confirmed: June 20, 2026, from Tarakeswar, Hooghly, West Bengal | PIB factsheet |
| 23rd instalment size | Confirmed: over ₹18,880 crore to over 9.44 crore farmers, including 2.18 crore women | PIB |
| Scheme benefit | Confirmed: ₹6,000 a year per eligible farmer family, in three instalments of ₹2,000 | PIB |
| Total paid so far | Confirmed: over ₹4.46 lakh crore across 23 instalments | PIB |
| 2026-27 budget | Confirmed: ₹60,000 crore allocated | PIB |
| 24th instalment date | Not announced as of October 23, 2026 | Official portal and news checks |
| 24th instalment size | Not announced | None |
The ₹2,000 per instalment figure comes from the scheme's design. Government has not published the 24th instalment's total outlay or beneficiary count.
PM-KISAN is described as paying every four months, so many websites simply add four months to June 20 and land on October 20. The actual record is looser than that.
| Instalment | Release date | Days since previous | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20th | August 2, 2025 | Not calculated | All India Radio |
| 21st | November 19, 2025 | 109 | All India Radio |
| 22nd | March 13, 2026 | 114 | All India Radio |
| 23rd | June 20, 2026 | 99 | PIB |
The day counts are our own calculation from these dates. Three takeaways follow.
Important limit: this history cannot predict the 24th date. Releases have been tied to Prime Minister events, which are set by the government's calendar.
PIB describes a multi-step pipeline. Knowing it helps you see where a payment can stall.
| Stage | What happens | Where it can go wrong (our reading) |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Registration | Farmer registers on the portal, mobile app, or at a Common Service Centre | Incomplete details |
| 2. State verification | State government verifies eligibility and uploads beneficiary data | Land record mismatch |
| 3. Validation | Aadhaar and bank details are checked; ineligible applicants are screened out | Aadhaar-bank link not active |
| 4. Final state approval | State approves the record | Pending approval |
| 5. Payment processing | Data goes to the Public Financial Management System (PFMS); sanction orders are issued | Account verification failure |
| 6. Credit | Funds move through banks and NPCI to your account | Inactive or non-DBT-enabled account |
The PIB factsheet states that farmers must have land records seeded on the portal, link their bank account with Aadhaar, and complete e-KYC to receive benefits.
Use the waiting period to fix your record. Do each step only through official channels.
| Step | How | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Check your status | Use the "Know Your Status" tab on pmkisan.gov.in with your registration number and OTP | Shows your registration and payment status |
| Complete e-KYC | OTP on the portal, biometric at a Common Service Centre, or face authentication in the PM-KISAN mobile app | e-KYC is required to receive benefits |
| Confirm Aadhaar-bank linking | Ask your bank branch to confirm the account is Aadhaar-seeded and active for direct benefit transfers | Payments go only to such accounts |
| Verify land records | Check that your land details are correctly seeded on the portal | Benefits depend on seeded land records |
| Know your registration number | If lost, use the retrieval option on the portal | Needed for status checks |
If something is wrong, you can register a grievance on the PM-KISAN portal or through the Centralized Public Grievance Redressal and Monitoring System. The government's Kisan-eMitra chatbot also answers questions in 11 languages, including Hindi, English, Punjabi, Tamil, Bengali and Marathi.
PIB notes that states run recovery proceedings for amounts paid to ineligible people. It names income tax payers, government employees, public sector undertaking personnel, and holders of constitutional posts. As of December 2025, ₹416.75 crore had been recovered from ineligible beneficiaries nationwide.
If you believe you fall into one of those categories, check the scheme's exclusion rules on the official portal. Recovery can apply to payments already received.
During every instalment wait, unofficial dates and links circulate. Our recommendations:
There is no official date yet. Watch the official PM-KISAN portal and PIB for the announcement, which has typically come only a few days before release.
The scheme pays ₹2,000 per instalment, or ₹6,000 a year, to each eligible farmer family.
Yes. PIB lists e-KYC verification, Aadhaar-linked bank accounts, and seeded land records as requirements to receive benefits.
Open the official portal, choose "Know Your Status," enter your registration number, complete the captcha and OTP, and view your record.
Use the grievance option on the PM-KISAN portal, CPGRAMS, or visit a Common Service Centre. Your state agriculture office also handles beneficiary data corrections.
The honest answer to the question millions are asking is that nobody outside government knows the 24th instalment date yet. The history shows the gaps between releases have varied, so calendar-based predictions are unreliable, and announcements usually arrive only days in advance.
The most useful thing you can do now is get your record release-ready: check your status, finish e-KYC, confirm your Aadhaar-linked bank account is active, and verify your land details. Then rely only on the official portal and PIB for the date.
