Alpine White, 480 hp: BMW India Starts Taking Pre-Orders for the Limited M2 xDrive Turbo Edition

BMW India has opened pre-orders for the M2 xDrive Turbo Edition, a limited-run special edition of the M2 that pays tribute to the legendary 1973 BMW 2002 Turbo. Pre-orders began on October 13, 2026 through BMW India's authorised dealerships, with cars allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. It is the first time this edition has been offered in India.
A Tribute to the BMW 2002 Turbo
The special edition draws its inspiration from the BMW 2002 Turbo, introduced in 1973 with a 170 hp engine and a claimed top speed above 200 km/h. That car was among the earliest series-production passenger cars to use turbocharging, and it remains a landmark in BMW's performance history. The new edition carries that heritage into the modern M era.
Design and Styling
The M2 xDrive Turbo Edition is offered exclusively in Alpine White. Hand-painted BMW Motorsport stripes run along the car, echoing the original 2002 Turbo. Other exterior details include a black power dome on the bonnet, reversed "turbo" lettering on the bonnet and a bespoke "turbo" emblem beneath the M2 badge.
A carbon-fibre roof, tailgate and rear spoiler add to the motorsport look. Buyers can also choose optional M Performance forged wheels in Gold Bronze, measuring 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear.
Cabin Details
Inside, the car gets M Carbon bucket seats, an M Alcantara steering wheel and carbon-fibre interior trim. A small touch that sets it apart from the regular M2 is a "turbo" badge on the centre cupholder cover.
Engine and Performance
Under the bonnet is a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 480 hp (353 kW) and 600 Nm of torque. Power goes to all four wheels through BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system. BMW India claims a 0 to 100 km/h time of 3.7 seconds, and the top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. With the optional M Driver's Package, the top speed can rise to 285 km/h, though BMW India has not detailed whether that package is available on India-spec cars.
The engine itself is unchanged from the standard M2, so the Turbo Edition is primarily a design, equipment and exclusivity package. The xDrive system is a key part of its identity. This is also the second M2 special edition to use xDrive, following the 100 Jahre Nürburgring Edition.
Price and Availability
BMW India has not announced the price of the M2 xDrive Turbo Edition or how many units are allocated to the Indian market, and it has not yet shared full India-specific technical details such as the complete transmission and equipment list. The regular M2 in India is priced from roughly Rs 1.07 crore to Rs 1.66 crore (ex-showroom), and a limited edition with xDrive and extensive carbon fibre would be expected to command a premium. Any price estimate at this stage is speculation until BMW confirms official figures.
Because allocation is first-come, first-served and numbers are small, buyers interested in the car will need to contact their nearest BMW dealership soon.
Why It Matters
Limited-run heritage editions have become a key way for performance brands to attract collectors and enthusiasts. For BMW in India, the Turbo Edition adds a rare, story-driven option to the M lineup at a time when buyers increasingly look for exclusivity as well as speed. The fact that it is making its India debut through a pre-order system suggests demand will be tested before pricing is made public.
