Gold Price Today: Gold Futures Jump 1.52% to $4,220 as MCX Gold Climbs to ₹1.51 Lakh

Gold Price Today: Global Bullion Rebounds Sharply
Gold prices advanced on Friday, October 9, as global bullion recovered from recent losses and buying interest strengthened. According to the supplied Investing.com chart, gold futures closed at $4,220.30 per ounce, up $63.30 or 1.52% for the session. The contract traded within a daily range of approximately $4,156.20 to $4,232.90.
The rally followed a sharp decline earlier in the week, when gold came under pressure from a stronger US dollar and elevated Treasury yields. The latest rebound suggests investors are taking advantage of lower prices, although the sustainability of the recovery remains uncertain.
MCX Gold Price Rises to ₹1,51,300 per 10 Grams
Gold futures in India also recorded gains. According to a PTI report published by HDFC SKY, the December gold contract on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) rose by ₹1,690, or 1.13%, to ₹1,51,300 per 10 grams on Friday. The increase was supported by firm spot demand and fresh speculative positions.
The movement in domestic gold prices reflects changes in international bullion rates alongside factors such as the rupee-dollar exchange rate, local demand and futures-market activity. Retail jewellery prices may differ from exchange-traded futures because of taxes, making charges and dealer margins.
Why Are Gold Prices Rising? Dollar Weakness and Bargain Buying
A key factor behind the international recovery is the possibility that the US dollar's recent rally is losing momentum. Gold and the dollar often move in opposite directions because a weaker dollar makes dollar-priced bullion less expensive for buyers using other currencies.
StoneX market analyst David Scutt noted signs of a potential reversal in the dollar's short-term uptrend, alongside an attempt by US 10-year Treasury futures to stabilise after a heavy sell-off. The analysis identified the $4,225–$4,235 area as an important near-term upside target for gold. However, the report cautioned that neither a lasting dollar reversal nor a definitive Treasury-market bottom was confirmed.
Bargain buying also supported the rebound after gold touched a two-month low earlier in the week. Reuters reported that spot gold rose about 1.5% on Friday, while US gold futures for December delivery settled higher as investors assessed the outlook for further Federal Reserve interest-rate increases.
Gold Price Outlook: Key Levels and Market Risks
In the near term, traders will watch whether gold can sustain its recovery above the $4,184 area and challenge resistance between $4,225 and $4,235. A sustained move higher could strengthen bullish momentum, while a retreat below recent support levels may signal renewed selling pressure.
The outlook will also depend on US inflation data, Federal Reserve policy expectations, Treasury-market movements and the direction of the dollar. Higher interest rates and bond yields can weigh on gold because bullion does not pay interest, while economic uncertainty and expectations of lower rates may support demand.
For Indian investors, the MCX gold price, rupee movements and domestic physical demand will remain important indicators. Despite Friday's gains, volatility may persist, and a single session's rally does not guarantee a sustained upward trend.
