What is new, which phones are in the beta, how the rollout may work and what OnePlus and realme users should know

ColorOS 17 is OPPO's Android 17-based software, unveiled for India and global markets on October 13, 2026, at 2:30 PM IST (11:00 AM CEST). It brings a refreshed design, new AI tools and a bigger change behind the scenes: OnePlus and realme phones are moving from OxygenOS and Realme UI to ColorOS. This guide explains what is new, which phones are in the beta, how the rollout is expected to work and how to prepare.
Note: At the time of writing, OPPO had not yet published an India or global update calendar or an official eligible device list. Items marked as expected may change after the launch event.

OPPO's refreshed design language is called Living Flow Design in India-focused coverage and Fluid Fusion in some other reports. It is a system-wide animation framework intended to make scrolling, swiping and switching screens feel smoother and more consistent. A related Luminous Effect adds soft, dynamic light ripples, most visible on the quick settings panel and notification toggles, per Sunday Guardian. 91mobiles noted that ColorOS 17 looks much like ColorOS 16 at first glance, with the change being how the interface moves and responds.
OPPO has emphasised tighter integration between hardware and software to keep performance steady during heavy multitasking and long video recording. Its China claims include a certification for 72 months of sustained smoothness, which are OPPO's own figures and not independently tested.
Both OnePlus and realme have confirmed that eligible phones will shift from OxygenOS and Realme UI to ColorOS starting with Android 17. Sunday Guardian describes this as a major structural shift for the BBK Electronics brands, with the combined resources intended to produce faster, more stable update rollouts. For users, this means the look and feel of a OnePlus or realme phone will change when it updates.
Registrations for the India open beta ran from October 9 to October 12 and are now closed. Devices reported as eligible:
| Brand | Phones | Regions |
|---|---|---|
| OPPO | Find X9 Ultra, X9 Pro, X9, X9s, X8 Pro, X8 | India, Indonesia, Malaysia |
| OPPO | Reno 15 Pro, Reno 15 Pro mini | India, Malaysia |
| OnePlus | OnePlus 15, 15R, 13, 13R, 13s | India |
| realme | GT 8 Pro, GT 7 Pro, GT 7, GT 7 Dream Edition, GT 7T (per WiserAI) | India |
Early beta software can bring bugs and battery drain, and OPPO has advised against installing beta builds on a primary phone.
The stable rollout will not necessarily begin on launch day. Digit reports it will not start the same day, and OPPO has not confirmed an India date. China's schedule offers a clue: it started with the Find X9 series and Find N6 on October 8, with further batches on October 16, 20, 22 and 30, covering around 90 devices. If India follows a similar order, the OPPO Find X9, OnePlus 15 and realme GT 8 Pro may be among the first to receive the update, though that is an expectation and not a promise.
These are general tips:
