TCS Q2 Results FY27: Net Profit Jumps 15% to ₹13,884 Crore as AI Revenue Hits $3.1 Billion

TCS Reports Stronger Profit in Q2 FY27
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), one of India’s largest IT services companies, reported a 14.9% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹13,884 crore for the second quarter of financial year 2026–27. Revenue from operations rose 11.2% to ₹73,188 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared with ₹65,799 crore in the same period last year.
The results reflect continued demand for technology services, although growth remained modest on a constant-currency basis. TCS reported an operating margin of 24% and a net margin of 19%, highlighting the continuing importance of managing costs amid changes in global technology spending.
TCS AI Revenue Crosses $3 Billion
Artificial intelligence emerged as a key growth area for the company. TCS said its annualised AI revenue reached $3.1 billion in Q2 FY27, exceeding 10% of its overall revenue. The figure highlights the growing role of AI implementation, cloud services and enterprise transformation in the company’s business strategy.
TCS also reported broad-based growth across international markets. Banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), manufacturing, and technology and services were among the key contributors to sequential growth in constant-currency terms. Its total contract value (TCV)—a measure of the value of contracts secured—stood at $9.6 billion during the quarter.
Porsche and Best Buy Deals Strengthen TCS Growth Strategy
During the quarter, TCS announced a five-year strategic partnership with Porsche AG and an agreement to acquire MHP, Porsche’s Germany-based management and IT consulting subsidiary, subject to regulatory approvals. It also agreed to transition Best Buy’s Global Capability Centre in India to TCS and transform it into an AI Capability Centre.
These deals underline TCS’s focus on AI-powered business transformation and long-term client partnerships as companies reassess their technology investments.
TCS Shares Rise as Investors Track AI Growth
Investors have been watching TCS closely for signs that international technology spending and AI-related demand can support stronger growth. Reuters reported that TCS shares rose on October 9 as investors responded to AI revenue momentum and international business growth. However, global economic uncertainty and uneven spending by some clients remain important risks for the wider Indian IT sector.
The latest TCS Q2 results highlight a company balancing rising AI demand with a cautious global spending environment. Its ability to convert AI opportunities and major client deals into sustained revenue growth will remain a key factor for investors in the coming quarters.
