The global fashion calendar runs in two main cycles a year:
Menswear usually comes first, in January and June, followed by haute couture in Paris in January and July.
The "Big Four" fashion capitals show in a fixed order: New York → London → Milan → Paris.
Organised by the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, Milan's men's week opens the 2027 season. Italian houses known for tailoring, leather and luxury menswear present their Fall/Winter collections.
Run by the FHCM, Paris men's week features many of the world's biggest luxury houses as well as independent and avant-garde designers. It often sets the tone for menswear for the year.
Haute couture is the top tier of fashion: handmade, made-to-measure garments created in Paris workshops. "Haute couture" is a legally protected designation in France, and only houses meeting the FHCM's criteria can use it. Couture week shows Spring/Summer 2027 couture. It is famous for its craftsmanship, embroidery and red-carpet influence.
Organised under the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) calendar, New York showcases American ready-to-wear, from established names to emerging labels. The CFDA has continued to update its schedule with new additions and returning brands, and its recent season was described as its first fur-free calendar.
Run by the British Fashion Council, London is known for young designers, creativity and fashion schools, including graduates of Central Saint Martins.
Milan's women's shows bring together Italy's biggest luxury houses. In the SS27 season, labels such as Ferragamo, Alberta Ferretti, Marni, MSGM and Dolce & Gabbana led trends such as glossy finishes, statement belts and delicate denim.
The season finale and the biggest event on the calendar. The SS27 edition (28 September – 6 October 2026) featured 68 shows and 33 presentations, according to Forbes.
The next major international event is Milan Fashion Week Men's (15–19 January 2027), followed by Paris Men's (19–24 January) and Paris Haute Couture Week (25–28 January).
8–12 February 2027, according to Fashion Week Online's calendar.
Paris Women's Fall/Winter 2027-28 runs 1–9 March 2027. Paris Men's is 19–24 January 2027, and Haute Couture Week is 25–28 January 2027 (FHCM).
New York, London, Milan and Paris, held in that order each February–March and September–October.
Ready-to-wear (prêt-à-porter) is produced in standard sizes for stores. Haute couture is handmade and made-to-measure in Paris by houses that meet strict official criteria.
Most shows are invite-only for press, buyers and guests, but many brands live-stream their shows. Some cities also host public events alongside fashion week.
After the SS27 shows, the fashion world has a short break before January 2027 brings men's shows and haute couture, followed by the Big Four womenswear weeks from 8 February to 9 March. Watch for new creative directors' second-year collections, possible designer changes and whether this season's bold colours carry into autumn.
