Citrus orange, party pants, delicate denim, soft romance and statement shoes: what the SS27 shows mean for your wardrobe

The Spring/Summer 2027 (SS27) shows in Milan and Paris, with Paris running from 28 September to 6 October 2026, set the direction for next year's fashion. The biggest trends were citrus orange, pastel pink, preppy knits and plaid, statement "party" trousers, delicate and decorated denim, soft romantic dressing, glossy finishes, belted waists, graphic prints and embellished shoes. Runway trends usually reach high-street stores within months, so these looks will shape what you see in shops through 2027. Many of them also work well for Indian weather and festivities.

Orange was the colour of the Paris shows. Hermès, Chanel and Loewe showed shirt dresses and skirts in bright citrus shades, while Mugler went deeper with matching orange trousers, jacket and gloves.
Wear it in India: orange works beautifully on Indian skin tones. Try a tangerine kurta, an orange linen shirt, or a saree in marigold or saffron for the festive season.
In Milan, Marni mixed pastel pink with burgundy, orange and moss green, and MM6 showed a pale pink satin silhouette.
Wear it: pair blush pink with earthy tones for a modern look, or choose a pastel pink lehenga or Anarkali for day weddings.
Collegiate style returned: Acne Studios showed argyle knitwear, Dries Van Noten luxe polos, Chanel sharp jackets, and Miu Miu and Vivienne Westwood plaid separates.
Wear it: a polo with tailored trousers is a smart-casual office option. Save argyle sweaters for North Indian winters or travel.
Trousers became the statement piece: silky slacks with a skirt detail at Louis Vuitton, sparkly snakeskin-print jeans at Balmain, high-shine pants at Dior, and printed white denim at Stella McCartney.
Wear it: metallic or satin trousers with a simple top are an easy alternative to a dress for Diwali parties and New Year's Eve.
Denim got softer and more decorative: Dolce & Gabbana added red lace along seams, while Ermanno Scervino and Genny showed floral denim. Paris also put denim front and centre, with Stella McCartney pairing it with tailoring.
Wear it: embroidered or lace-trimmed denim jackets over kurtas create an easy Indo-western look.
At Dior, creative director Jonathan Anderson showed sheer fabrics, soft tailoring and floral references, reworking the house's classic Bar jacket and full skirts. Chanel, under Matthieu Blazy, presented 83 looks at the Grand Palais with tweed suits and flowing dresses. Chloé went pared-back with black, white and broderie anglaise.
Wear it: sheer layers and cotton broderie are well suited to India's heat. Look for chikankari, which is the Indian cousin of delicate whitework embroidery.
Ferragamo showed translucent rubber dresses and high-shine vinyl trench coats. Anteprima paired lacquered skirts with crisp white shirts.
Wear it: in hot, humid weather, use gloss in accessories (patent bags, shoes) rather than full outfits.
Belts took centre stage: decorative, stacked belts at Ferragamo and wide Obi-style belts over full skirts at Alberta Ferretti.
Wear it: a belt over a long kurta or a saree drape, similar to a traditional kamarbandh, gives an instantly modern shape.
Dries Van Noten used vintage movie-poster graphics, and slogan tees appeared at Celine, Ann Demeulemeester, Sacai and Marine Serre. Florals bloomed at Balenciaga (a flower motif on an orange dress), Courrèges and Vivienne Westwood.
Wear it: block prints and hand-painted textiles from Indian craft clusters are a natural fit for this trend.
Shoes were jewellery: Saint Laurent stilettos with brooches and gold chains, and embellished sandals and crystal pumps at Dior, Loewe and Dries Van Noten. Victoria Beckham introduced a new wedge with an inward-curving heel.
Wear it: embellished juttis and kolhapuris are an Indian answer to the trend, and comfortable for long festive evenings.
From the SS27 runways: citrus orange, pastel pink, preppy knits and plaid, statement trousers, delicate denim, soft romantic dressing, gloss finishes, statement belts, graphic and floral prints, and embellished shoes.
From 28 September to 6 October 2026, with 68 shows and 33 presentations.
Orange stood out across Paris, especially at Hermès, Chanel, Loewe and Mugler. Pastel pink was strong in Milan.
Designer collections usually arrive in early 2027, and high-street interpretations often appear even sooner.
Adapt them with breathable fabrics and Indian silhouettes: an orange kurta, chikankari for soft romance, embellished juttis for fancy feet, or a belt over a long kurta.
Spring/Summer 2027 mixes bold colour and playful statement pieces with soft, romantic and wearable clothing. You don't need designer budgets to join in. Picking one or two trends, such as citrus orange or a statement trouser, and adapting them with Indian textiles and silhouettes is the most stylish and sustainable way to wear the new season.
