Every major exam left in 2026, in one place — and how to plan the final stretch

If you are preparing for a government job, a bank job, an MBA seat or a law school admission, October to December 2026 is the most crowded exam window of the year. SSC CGL Tier 1 is already under way, banking exams are stacked almost every few weeks, CAT falls on the last Sunday of November, and CLAT 2027 closes the year in early December.
This guide answers three questions quickly: which exams are left, when are they, and how should you use the time that remains?
Important: Dates below are based on official notifications and calendars as reported at the time of writing. Exam bodies can revise schedules. Always confirm on the official websites — ssc.gov.in, ibps.in, sbi.co.in/careers, iimcat.ac.in and consortiumofnlus.ac.in — before making plans.

The SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination recruits Group B and Group C officers across central government ministries and departments. The 2026 notification was released on 21 May 2026, and the Tier 1 computer-based test is being held from 30 September to 30 October 2026 in multiple shifts.
IBPS released its 2026–27 calendar early in the year, and the final quarter is packed:
The syllabus for most bank exams overlaps heavily: reasoning, quantitative aptitude, English and general/banking awareness. Preparing seriously for one exam is preparation for the next. Many aspirants appear for three or four banking exams in a single season, which improves the odds of at least one selection.
The Common Admission Test (CAT) is the gateway to the IIMs and more than a thousand other management institutes. IIM Indore is conducting CAT 2026 on Sunday, 29 November 2026, in three slots as a computer-based test. Registration closed in September, and admit cards become available from 4 November.
| Section | What it tests |
|---|---|
| VARC | Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension |
| DILR | Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning |
| QA | Quantitative Aptitude |
With about eight weeks left, most experienced mentors recommend shifting the balance from learning new concepts to full-length mock tests and detailed mock analysis.
The Consortium of National Law Universities will hold CLAT 2027 on Sunday, 6 December 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM in offline, pen-and-paper mode. Registration is open until 31 October 2026 — if you have not applied yet, this is the most urgent deadline in this guide.
CLAT is heavily reading-based. The English, Current Affairs including General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning and Logical Reasoning sections all present long passages, so daily reading speed and comprehension matter as much as subject knowledge.
The plan below works for any of these exams because it is built around how revision and testing actually improve scores.
After December, the cycle restarts. Results for SSC CGL Tier 1, CAT and CLAT are expected around December–January, IIM shortlists and NLU counselling follow in early 2027, and new calendars for 2027 exams — including the next UPSC Civil Services cycle — will shape the following year. Aspirants who did not clear an exam this season should use the January break to analyse results honestly and restart with a plan rather than repeating the same approach.
SSC CGL Tier 1 2026 is being held from 30 September to 30 October 2026 in computer-based mode. Tier 2 is expected in December 2026.
CAT 2026 is scheduled for Sunday, 29 November 2026, conducted by IIM Indore in three slots.
The CLAT 2027 registration window closes on 31 October 2026. The exam is on 6 December 2026.
Yes. Both test reasoning, quantitative aptitude and language skills, so preparation overlaps heavily. Focus on speed and accuracy, and add region-specific language requirements for RRB where relevant.
They are based on announced notifications and calendars, but exam bodies can revise them. Always confirm on the official website of the conducting body.
The final quarter of 2026 rewards aspirants who plan around the calendar instead of reacting to it. Mark the deadlines, register before 31 October if CLAT is on your list, shift to mock-based preparation, and protect your health in the last weeks. The difference between selection and near-miss is often consistency over these 90 days.
