Bank Strike 2026 Deferred: Banks to Remain Open as Unions and IBA Reach Understanding
The three-day nationwide bank strike scheduled for September 28–30, 2026, has been deferred after the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) and Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) reached an understanding late Sunday. The immediate disruption to banking services will not take place, with banks expected to operate normally. The two sides will now discuss the long-standing demand for a five-day banking week and holidays on all Saturdays.
