Her opening attempt was enough to secure the title, with Japan’s Olympic champion Haruka Kitaguchi finishing second at 62.70m. The victory further underlines Yan’s rapid rise in athletics. At just 18, she already owns a 71.74m personal best, a mark that places her second on the women’s all-time list and just 54 centimetres short of the world record.
