Spain Thrash Croatia 4-1 as Lamine Yamal Stars in UEFA Nations League

Spain produced another commanding performance in the UEFA Nations League 2026-27, defeating Croatia 4-1 at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium in Seville on September 29.

The result gives Spain two wins from two matches in Group A3, following their dramatic 3-2 victory over England at Wembley in the opening round. The win also extended Spain's unbeaten run to 40 matches, according to Reuters.

The night belonged to Lamine Yamal, who continued his outstanding international form with two goals and an assist.

Yamal needed less than two minutes to put Spain ahead. After Alex Baena's delivery was cleverly left by Fermín López, Yamal fired a low first-time effort beyond Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livaković.

Croatia responded in the 28th minute when Dion Beljo headed Ivan Perišić's cross into the net, marking his first international goal.

Spain quickly regained control. Yamal produced a dangerous delivery from the right, and Marc Pubill rose to head Spain back in front less than three minutes after Croatia's equaliser.

Yamal completed his brace in the 63rd minute. The young forward received a pass from Pedri inside the penalty area before finding the net from a tight angle.

His performance was not limited to scoring. Yamal's assist for Pubill also highlighted his influence as Spain's attacking playmaker.

Spain completed the scoring in the 89th minute when substitute Nico Williams finished inside the area to make it 4-1.

The victory was particularly significant for Spain as it was their first home match since winning the 2026 FIFA World Cup in July. Rodri paraded the World Cup trophy before kick-off as Spanish supporters celebrated the team's latest achievement.

Spain now have a perfect six points from their opening two Nations League matches. Croatia, meanwhile, were unable to build on their opening victory and suffered their first defeat of the campaign.

In the other Group A3 fixture, England defeated 10-man Czech Republic 2-0 in Prague. Anthony Gordon opened the scoring shortly after half-time before Harry Kane added England's second in the 69th minute.

Spain will next face Czech Republic on Saturday before travelling to Croatia for the reverse fixture on October 6.
