India finished its campaign at the World Archery Para Series 2026 Stage 3 in Ahmedabad with an impressive 15-medal haul — four gold, three silver and eight bronze.

The five-day competition was held at the Sabarmati Riverfront from September 5 to 9 and marked the first time India hosted a World Archery Para Series event.

The biggest highlight for India was 19-year-old Sheetal Devi, who won her first individual gold medal on the World Archery Para Series circuit.

Sheetal faced Kazakhstan’s Aizada Seidan in the women’s compound final. The match ended in a 144-144 draw, forcing a shoot-off.

Sheetal held her nerve and scored 10 with her deciding arrow, while Seidan scored 9. The result secured the gold medal for the Indian archer.

Sheetal entered the elimination rounds as the top seed after scoring 698 points in qualification. The performance improved her own Asian record by one point.

She also created a new world record in the compound mixed team qualification with Rakesh Kumar. The pair scored 1,400 points, breaking their previous record of 1,399 set at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

India also produced strong performances in the team events.

Bhawna and Harvinder Singh won gold in the recurve mixed team event after defeating China 6-0 in the final.

Sheetal and Toman Kumar added a bronze medal in the compound mixed team event. Sheetal's fellow Indian archer Sarita also won bronze in the individual compound event.

The results underline India's growing strength in para archery. Sheetal Devi's individual victory, along with her record-breaking performance, adds another major achievement to her career.

With India hosting the Para Series for the first time and finishing with 15 medals, the Ahmedabad event has provided a strong platform for Indian para archers ahead of future international competitions.
