The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has brought Muthoot Fincorp on board as the new title sponsor for India’s home cricket fixtures, with the agreement running until March 31, 2028.
The Kochi-based financial services company will take over from IDFC First Bank, whose previous sponsorship cycle ended in August. The new partnership is expected to cover approximately 35 international matches across the next two home seasons.
The reported schedule includes 10 Tests, 12 ODIs and 13 T20Is, giving Muthoot Fincorp branding across a substantial portion of India’s bilateral home cricket calendar.
Muthoot Fincorp’s title sponsorship will come into effect with India’s three-match ODI series against the West Indies, beginning September 27 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
The first match will be played in Muthoot Fincorp’s home state, marking the beginning of the company’s association with Indian cricket’s home international programme.
Reports have referred to the new sponsorship branding as “Blue Muthoot.”
The commercial value of the agreement has been reported differently by various sources.
Cricbuzz reported that the rights were negotiated around the BCCI’s ₹4.85 crore per-match base price, while sources cited by The Economic Times reported a final arrangement worth up to ₹150 crore, with Muthoot Fincorp paying around ₹4.3 crore per match.
IndianTelevision also reported the ₹4.85 crore-per-match figure but noted that neither the BCCI nor Muthoot Fincorp had formally announced the agreement at the time of publication.
Therefore, the final commercial terms remain subject to official BCCI confirmation.
Muthoot Fincorp takes over the title sponsorship after IDFC First Bank, which held the rights during the previous cycle.
IDFC First Bank had reportedly paid around ₹4.2 crore per match under its earlier agreement. The BCCI subsequently opened a new tender for the title sponsorship rights, but reports indicated that the board did not receive sufficient competitive bids at its targeted valuation.
The BCCI then moved towards direct negotiations with potential sponsors, eventually reaching an agreement with Muthoot Fincorp.
The new title sponsorship adds Muthoot Fincorp to a broader group of brands associated with Indian bilateral cricket.
Campa, SBI Life and ChatGPT have also been announced as associate partners for the current two-season commercial cycle through March 2028.
For Muthoot Fincorp, the agreement provides brand visibility across television broadcasts, digital platforms and stadium environments during India’s home international matches.
