The fourth day of the Asian Games brought several important events for India's contingent, with the women's cricket final against Sri Lanka among the biggest fixtures of the day.
India entered the contest after reaching the final with a strong run in the tournament. The match offered the women's team an opportunity to add India's first gold medal of the Games.
Shooting was another major focus. Elavenil Valarivan and Parth Mane competed in the 10m air rifle mixed team final but finished fourth among the four teams, missing out on a medal.
India's badminton teams also faced important contests on September 22. The women's team met Japan in the quarter-finals, while the men's team was scheduled to face Japan later in the day.
India's women's badminton campaign ended with a 3-1 defeat to Japan, despite a win in women's doubles. PV Sindhu, Unnati Hooda and Tanvi Sharma were among the Indian players who competed in the tie.
In kabaddi, India's men's team continued its campaign with a convincing 63-31 victory over South Korea, maintaining its position at the top of Group A.
India's six medals entering the day's competition came largely from shooting. Himanshu Dhillon won silver and Rudrankksh Patil bronze in the men's 10m air rifle individual event, while India also collected medals in other shooting and MMA events.
With several events still underway, India's athletes continued competing across shooting, cricket, badminton, kabaddi, boxing, wushu, hockey, swimming and other disciplines.
